Chennai Dosa Swindon
About This Spot
Stepping into Chennai Dosa Swindon, you’re met with a quietly welcoming space tucked into the heart of Swindon’s bustling Victoria Road. It’s the kind of place where the rhythms of daily life slow down a notch, letting the scents of warm spices and freshly cooked dosas gently draw you in. The mood here tends toward calm and unhurried, inviting guests to take a pause and savor the moment, whether it’s a casual snack or a laid-back meal shared with friends and family.
The atmosphere feels intimate and approachable, shaded by soft conversations and the occasional hum of kitchen activity. This is a spot where the focus isn’t on polished flash but on honest, familiar flavors that nod deeply to South Indian roots. The food arrives as a comforting companion to the experience — dosas crisped to order, fragrant biryanis rich with layers of spices, and steaming filter coffee poured thick and dark to those who appreciate a slow sip.
What makes Chennai Dosa feel distinct is its quiet celebration of everyday Indian cooking, bringing a variety of dishes that reflect the tastes of Tamil Nadu alongside some well-loved North Indian plates. Portions are generous without overwhelming, encouraging guests to explore a range of textures and tastes — from a tangy rasam that warms the soul to the subtle crunch of Gobi Manchurian prepared with a local twist.
The pace here mirrors the easygoing spirit of the place. Staff move with attentiveness that makes you feel cared for, without pressure or hurry. It’s the kind of neighborhood restaurant where regulars arrive with relaxed smiles, and newcomers find themselves drawn into a shared, unspoken appreciation for meals that feel homemade and heartfelt.
In sum, Chennai Dosa Swindon offers a grounded, thoughtfully prepared slice of Indian cuisine in a modest, inviting setting. It’s not a restaurant to rush but rather one to return to whenever you seek simple, soulful flavors paired with a calm ambiance and good company.

Broooooo honestlyyyyy I’ve tried South Indian breakfast in the uk in loads of places! Honest review the buffet is worth it! (It’s a tenner!) the vada slapped! The dessert mango sheer(omggggggggg!! Pleaseee try it!!!) Thank you to Harini and the other staff(sorry I forgot to ask his name), who were really nice! Especially the chef Nanda great cooking and my whole family loved the food! The sambar, white chutney, the red (I think tomato) chutney they were amazing. Me and my family got buffet. The masala dosa, make sure you order it along with your buffet it’s free! Once again I wish there were South Indian restaurants out there that make authentic food like them! Also you can only put the car for parking in front of it for only an hour! So make sure to find parking somewhere else or stay for an hour as I saw cars getting ticketed

The food is filling but not to much flavour in my opinion until you get to the filling . The sauce is delicious though. Atmosphere is very quiet , could do with more music or better interior . Service is quick although not many tables . Overall very good for a snack rather than an actual meal

It’s located in central Swindon. Descent south India cuisine restaurant. There are some dishes specific from the state of Tamil Nadu. Options of North Indian food is there too. So a mix of people seeking variety of Indian cuisine can definitely try this place. Portions are good size. Taste is genuine. Prices are competitive. Somebody craving dosas and idlis, go and have a good time here. And if you need to park your car, plenty of paid parking options all around the market area. For 2 hour, 3 GBP not bad. The machines are old and need coins. So better use Ringo parking app.

Following a small pub crawl in Old Town with my Nephew and another day, another curry. This time, we shared Gobi 65 and Gobi Manchurian for starters (cauliflower cooked two ways), followed by Chicken Chettinadu for my main with rice and shared Cheese and Chilli Naan.

Nice south indian restaurant. Both vegetarian and non vegetarian options available. All food were delicious. We ordered chicken -65 as well, sadly the chicken seemed to have been prepared for some chinese dish, they just fried this and presented it as Chicken 65. Could have been better if they said they dont have it and I would have ordered something else. But overall good ambience and very affordable pricing. Friendly staff. Definitely would recommend. Wish the restaurant would inform the customer in case they don't have a dish, instead of providing something else.
